And He said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
The Evangelism Committee, at St. Paul’s is actively working toward our church’s mission statement, which is: “We seek to know Jesus Christ better and to reach out to others in His name”.
The Bible, the Word of God, is very clear in instructing all of us to carry out this work. A few of the many verses of scripture on the subject of Evangelism are:
Mark 16:15 — And He said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
Isaiah 6:8 — And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, “Here am I. Send me.”
Matthew 28:19-20 — Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
The Evangelism Committee carries out a variety of events and efforts each year including:
Bring a Friend to Church Sundays. Four times a year we host these events where we encourage those that do not have a church home to join the St. Paul’s family. We ask our church members to invite their friends, neighbors and co-workers to come to church with them on these days. The committee provides name tags to all in attendance and strives to send out the message “You are welcome here”. All visiting guests are given a gift bag containing a welcome package and a variety of treats.
Facebook Page. We created this and use it to share photos and let the world know about all of the great things happening at St. Paul’s and in the mission field.
“Let Us Tell the World About This”. Each month, the Epistle, the St. Paul’s newsletter, contains a short lesson and message from our committee.
Operation Christmas Child. The Evangelism Committee assists the Outreach Committee in St. Paul’s participation in this Samaritan’s Purse ministry. Shoe boxes full of small gifts are collected from church members and then sent to Samaritan’s Purse. The gift boxes are then distributed to needy children around the world at Christmas as a demonstration of Christ’s love.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Golf Tournament. In 2012 we held our first golf tournament as a benefit for our sister church, St. Alban’s Church in Crochu, Haiti. More than $7000 was raised at this event to assist in the construction of their new church and school.
